Pick 2: Miami vs Washington and Cincinnati vs Oakland

The Teaser: Pair Miami and Cincinnati

Game 1: Miami vs Washington

The Initial Line:

Miami -4 away vs Washington

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Miami’s line

The Final Line:

Miami +3.5

The Breakdown:

Miami was showing signs of improvement in 2014, before the defense started to collapse in the 2nd half. The acquisition of Ndamukong Suh next to Cameron Wake should be able to cause many teams headaches, as they are just a fierce combination on the DL. Ryan Tannehill is showing growth every season, as he put up over 4,000 pass yds and 27 TDs last season. Lamar Miller quietly rushed for over 1,000 yards last year, and he’s only 24 years old. They did lose some key receivers in Brian Hartline and Mike Wallace, but quickly found solid replacements in Kenny Stills and Greg Jennings. Washington is a team that seems to be spiraling out of control everyday, as RGIII is now the #3 QB on the roster with Kirk Cousins starting. Miami is a team that can make a push for the playoffs this year, and it starts by beating teams that have no shot like Washington.

Final Stat: Washington allowed 2nd most sacks in 2014. Miami had 10th most sacks without addition of Ndamukong Suh, who had 8.5 sacks in 2014

Game 2: Cincinnati vs. Oakland

The Initial Line:

Cincinnati -3 away vs. Oakland

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Cincinnati’s line

The Final Line:

Cincinnati +4.5

The Breakdown:

Cincinnati continues to reach the playoffs only to be bounced out in the first game, losing 4 straight playoff games from 2011-2014. However they have a potent offense with AJ Green leading the receiving core. They also expect a huge season from Jeremy Hill, who had over 1,100 rushing yards in his rookie season at age 22. Cincinnati made many improvements to the defense in the offseason as well, with DE Michael Johnson and LB AJ Hawk headlining their signings. Oakland was a team that struggled in 2014, finishing the season with a 3-13 record. They have a lot of youth on the roster, and still are trying to build up their young talent. They are exciting about the signing of rookie WR Amari Cooper, who was signed 4th overall in the draft from Alabama. However they still have 2nd year QB Derek Carr throwing to him, and he is not yet developed enough to help Cooper put up gaudy numbers. Cincinnati will make another push for the playoffs in 2015, and it starts by beating teams like Oakland.

Final Stat: Oakland ranked #32 (last in NFL) in offensive yards gained at 4,515. Cincinnati gained over 1,000 more yards.
