Pick 1: New York (AFC) vs. Tennessee and Denver vs. Oakland

The Teaser: Pair New York (AFC) and Denver

Game 1: New York (AFC) vs. Tennessee

The Initial Line:

New York (AFC) -8 home vs. Tennessee

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to New York’s line

The Final Line:

New York (AFC) -0.5

The Breakdown:

New York was able to come back to win their in-state rivalry against the Giants, as they won on the road in OT 23-20. Tennessee finally ended an 11-game home losing streak, as they defeated Jacksonville 42-39. New York is currently holding a slim lead as the #6 seed in the AFC playoff picture. They will need to keep winning in order to claim a spot, as Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Houston are all vying for a spot. Tennessee has been a work in progress all year behind rookie QB Marcus Mariota. Their defense and offense have both had their moments, but overall can’t put it together as reflected in their 3-9 record. New York’s offense has been able to move the ball with Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB, and he might be their best option after this year as well. New York’s at home and needs to keep winning, while Tennessee doesn’t have much to play for. Take the home team to win here.

Final Stat: New York has a +4 turnover differential this season. Tennessee is 28th in the NFL with a -8 differential.

Game 2: Denver vs. Oakland

The Initial Line:

Denver -8 home vs. Oakland

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Denver’s line

The Final Line:

Denver -0.5

The Breakdown:

Denver won their 3rd straight game Sunday, as they went on the road to beat division rival San Diego 17-3. Oakland lost at the hands of red-hot Kansas City, as they fell at home 34-20. Brock Osweiler has done a great job managing the offense since Peyton’s been out with an injury. He has outdueled some big name QBs during their current win streak (Jay Cutler, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers). Oakland has lost their rhythm over the past few weeks despite a promising start to the year. At 5-7 they are likely out of the playoff picture, even though Derek Carr has grown immensely in his 2nd full season. He may have a tough time passing against this defense however, as they rank 1st in the NFL against the pass. Denver is currently in the #2 seed and needs to continue winning with New England nipping at their heels. Expect a home victory for them this week.

Final Stat: Denver is 1st in the NFL in total defensive yds allowed. Oakland ranks 25th.
