Pick 3: New England vs. Houston and Chicago vs. Washington

Pick 3: New England vs. Houston and Chicago vs. Washington

The Teaser: Pair New England and Chicago

Game 1: New England vs. Houston

The Initial Line:

New England -3 away vs. Houston

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to New England’s line

The Final Line:

New England +4.5

The Breakdown:

New England suffered a rare 2nd consecutive defeat, as they lost at home to Philadelphia 35-28. Houston had their 4 game win streak snapped, as they lost on the road to Buffalo 30-21. New England now sits in the #3 seed after 2 straight losses. Last game they had a surprising special teams breakdown, as they allowed a punt block TD and a punt return TD in their last game. The injuries have begun to mount for New England, but they can still move the ball as long as they have Tom Brady at QB. James White also had his first breakout game last week from the running back position, and he might prove to be a weapon for NE as they recover from injuries. Houston has been sporting a tough squad as of late on both offense and defense. This should be a tough fought game, but I’d find it really surprising if NE lost 3 straight games. Take them with a few insurance points just in case.

Final Stat: New England has the 3rd least turnovers on offense this season with 11 in 12 games.

Game 2: Chicago vs. Washington

The Initial Line:

Chicago -3 home vs. Washington

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Chicago’s line

The Final Line:

Chicago +4.5

The Breakdown:

Chicago let their lead slip away and fell at home to San Francisco 26-20 in OT. Washington also couldn’t hold on at home on MNF, as they lost to division rival Dallas 19-16. Surprisingly to some Chicago and Washington are both still in the playoff hunt, despite having 5-7 records. Washington had a chance to take hold of the NFC East, but let that fall through their hands on MNF. Jay Cutler has given new life to this Chicago team, as some thought they would fold after the first couple weeks. Since an 0-3 start, they’ve either won every game or lost by less than one score. They only game over 3 pts was this past weekend in OT. Washington has been a stellar home team, but they’ve had serious woes on the road as their still looking for their first road win of 2015. This game will probably remain tight until the end, but I think Chicago will take care of business at home. Grab them with a few extra pts in case Washington wins on a late FG.

Final Stat: Chicago’s defense ranks 12th in the NFL for yds allowed. Washington is ranked 21st.
