Pick 3: Green Bay vs. Oakland and New Orleans vs. Detroit

Pick 3: Green Bay vs. Oakland and New Orleans vs. Detroit

The Teaser: Pair Green Bay and New Orleans

Game 1: Green Bay vs. Oakland

The Initial Line:

Green Bay -3 away vs. Oakland

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Green Bay’s line

The Final Line:

Green Bay +4.5

The Breakdown:

Green Bay got a much needed win on Sunday, as they defeated Dallas at Lambeau Field 28-7. Oakland pulled off the unexpected road victory against Denver with a 15-12 victory. Green Bay now has a 1 game lead over Minnesota in the NFC North division, as they sit at 9-4. Despite questions about their offensive struggles they would still sit as the #3 seed in the NFC. It’s likely that a divisional playoff game may occur between GB and Minnesota, but whoever clinches the NFC North will dictate home-field advantage. Aaron Rodgers may not have a ton of passing yards this season, but he still ranks 7th in passer rating on the season. The defense has also been contributing, as they rank 7th in sacks on the year. Oakland is statistically still in the playoff hunt with a 6-7 record, but they have struggled more recently losing 4 out of 6. This game will probably remain close, but expect GB to pull out the victory as they have more riding on this one.

Final Stat: Green Bay has the least number of turnovers in the NFL with 9 on the season.

Game 2: New Orleans vs. Detroit

The Initial Line:

New Orleans -3 home vs. Detroit

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to New Orleans’s line

The Final Line:

New Orleans +4.5

The Breakdown:

New Orleans was able to go on the road and defeat divisional foe Tampa Bay 24-17 Sunday. Detroit fell short on the road, as they lost to St. Louis 21-14. This game features a tale of 2 teams with disappointing seasons. Detroit sits at 4-9 and New Orleans sits at 5-8, both currently out of playoff contention barring a miracle. New Orleans has played better as of late, as they almost defeated Carolina at home losing by 3 and then recently got the 7 pt road win. Now they head back home where Drew Brees looks to continue his success. He has a career 66-41 home record (61.7%) vs a 56-52 road record (51.9%). As a team New Orleans’ offense hasn’t been the issue, as they rank 4th in the NFL in total yards while Detroit ranks 22nd. Their defense has been a problem however, as they rank 31st in the NFL. This game should be a shootout with Brees and Stafford slinging the ball down the field, but expect New Orleans to come out on top in front of the home crowd.

Final Stat: Drew Brees ranks in the top 10 in pass yds, TDs, and passer rating.
