Pick 5: New England vs. Tennessee and Minnesota vs. Chicago

The Teaser: Pair New England and Minnesota

Game 1: New England vs. Tennessee

The Initial Line:

New England -15.5 home vs. Tennessee

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to New England’s line

The Final Line:

New England -7

The Breakdown:

New England got back in the win column, as they went on the road to beat Houston 27-6. Tennessee got crushed on the road, as they fell to New York 30-8. Last week everyone was concerned with New England and thought they were falling fast in the playoff race. Now after a win and losses by Cincinnati and Denver they looked primed for a #1 seed once again. Tennessee is doing all they can to stay afloat, as they sit at 3-10 on the season. Mariota has showed promise in his rookie season, but he’s still got a long way to go. Brady on the other hand is making a strong case for MVP with the most passing yards and TDs in the NFL. With Gronk back in the lineup the offense is scoring a ton of points, and it seems very unlikely that Tennessee will be able to keep up in Foxboro. Take New England in the likely blowout.

Final Stat: Tennessee has only scored over 21 pts 3 times this season. New England has scored 20+ pts in every game this year.

Game 2: Minnesota vs. Chicago

The Initial Line:

Minnesota -5.5 home vs. Chicago

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Minnesota’s line

The Final Line:

Minnesota +3

The Breakdown:

Minnesota lost a tight one on the road, as they fell to powerhouse Arizona 23-20 on TNF. Chicago had a disappointing game at home, losing to Washington 24-21. Minnesota has now lost 2 straight games, but is still only a game back in the NFC North race and the #6 seed in the playoff race. They seem to be locked in for a playoff spot, and now the question is will they overtake GB for a #3 seed and home-field advantage in the wild-card round. Adrian Peterson has been their main offensive force, as he currently leads the NFL with 1,251 rush yards. This may spell trouble for a Chicago defense that lets up an average of 125.7 yds/game. Chicago is basically out of the playoff hunt and Minnesota is looking for better position. They will come to play at home and defeat Chicago, take them here.

Final Stat: Minnesota is currently ranked 9th in pts allowed/game. Chicago ranks 18th in that category.
