Pick 3: Buffalo vs. Dallas and Carolina vs. Atlanta

Pick 3: Buffalo vs. Dallas and Carolina vs. Atlanta

The Teaser: Pair Buffalo and Carolina

Game 1: Buffalo vs. Dallas

The Initial Line:

Buffalo -7 home vs. Dallas

The Take:

Add 7 points to Buffalo’s line

The Final Line:

Buffalo even

The Breakdown:

Buffalo wasn’t able to mount the comeback, as they fell on the road to Washington 35-25. Dallas was almost able to pull out the home victory, but couldn’t stop New York’s comeback as they eventually fell 19-16. Dallas and Buffalo are now both out of the playoff picture. Dallas will give Kellen Moore an opportunity to show what he can do at QB since Tony Romo is hurt and Matt Cassell/Brandon Weeden have struggled. Tyrod Taylor quietly came out of nowhere to emerge as one of the better QBs in the NFL. Buffalo is close to having a playoff-caliber team, they just haven’t found a way to put it together each week. Having playmakers like Sammy Watkins and LeSean McCoy will definitely help for the future. Neither of these teams is particularly dominant, but Buffalo still has the edge and will have the advantage of the home crowd. Buffalo could finish the season 8-8 if they win these last 2 games, so expect them to come out with an attitude at home. Take Tyrod over Kellen in this one.

Final Stat: Buffalo ranks 10th in the NFL in turnover differential at +4. Dallas on the other hand ranks dead last with a -18 differential.

Game 2: Carolina vs. Atlanta

The Initial Line:

Carolina -7.5 away vs. Atlanta

The Take:

Add 7 points to Carolina’s line

The Final Line:

Carolina -0.5

The Breakdown:

Carolina has kept the idea of an undefeated season alive, as they held off a late rally to defeat New York 38-35. Atlanta finally got back in the win column, as they went on the road to beat Jacksonville 23-17. Carolina has been consistently dominant all season, behind the MVP-like play of Cam Newton. Atlanta has had a Jekyll and Hyde situation going on, as the started the season with promise but have fell off the table for the last few weeks. In the first 5 weeks when Atlanta was 5-0, the offense put up 24+ pts/game. Since week 5, their offense hasn’t reached that total once. Matt Ryan has been making a lot of mistakes lately, but the blame can’t be totally put on him. In a game at Carolina 2 weeks ago, they did absolutely nothing in a 38-0 embarrassment. I expect that they’ll play better this time around in front of the home crowd, but they’re still no match for Carolina on offense and defense. Getting Carolina at -0.5 almost seems unfair, but that’s the advantage of teasers.

Final Stat: Carolina has the most turnovers (35) and the best turnover differential (+19) in the NFL.
