Pick 1: Denver vs. Kansas City and New England vs. Buffalo

Pick 1: Denver vs. Kansas City and New England vs. Buffalo

The Teaser: Pair Denver and New England

Game 1: Denver vs. Kansas City

The Initial Line:

Denver +3 away vs. Kansas City

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Denver’s line

The Final Line:

Denver +10.5

The Breakdown:

Both Denver and Kansas City got opening week wins to start 2015, however Denver’s wasn’t as convincing against Baltimore in a 19-13 final at home. Now they will have to go on the road for Thursday Night Football in the loudest stadium in the league in Arrowhead Stadium. This is the first time Denver is an underdog since they last played KC on the road in week 13 of 2014 (+1 underdog), where they got the road win 29-16. Some are questioning Peyton’s capabilities, but they seem to forget all the pieces around him on this Denver team. Their overall defense was ranked #1 (Pro Football Focus) in 2014, and they have one of the best OL in football. They will have to contain the reigning sack leader in Justin Houston, but this Denver offense is still good enough to keep up or surpass the average Kansas City offensive attack. Take them with the insurance points here.

Final Stat: Denver has won their last 8 of 10 over KC, and hasn’t lost by more than 4 pts in their 2 losses.

Game 2: New England vs. Buffalo

The Initial Line:

New England even away vs. Buffalo

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to New England’s line

The Final Line:

New England +7.5

The Breakdown:

New England and Buffalo both started off with a win to enter 2015, along with the rest of the AFC East. Buffalo made a statement by holding high-powered offense Indianapolis to 14 points, while Tom Brady reeled off 4 TDs in his opener (3 to Gronk) after a stressful offseason revolving around Deflategate controversy. Both of these teams seemed primed for a postseason run, even though Buffalo hasn’t accomplished that feat since 1999 (longest drought in NFL). New England got the best of them last year on the road, winning 37-22. However Buffalo’s defense is one of the best in football, and if new acquisitions LeSean McCoy and Percy Harvin can have big games NE will have their hands full. Even though NE is now the AFC favorite to reach Super Bowl 50, expect this one to come down to the wire and be a one-possession game.

Final Stat: Tom Brady is 23-3 vs Buffalo in his career, and threw for 361 yds and 4 TDs during last year’s road contest against a similar looking Buffalo defense.
