Pick 3: Buffalo vs. New York (NFC) and St. Louis vs. Arizona

Pick 3: Buffalo vs. New York (NFC) and St. Louis vs. Arizona

The Teaser: Pair Buffalo and St. Louis

Game 1: Buffalo vs. New York (NFC)

The Initial Line:

Buffalo -5.5 home vs. New York (NFC)

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Buffalo’s line

The Final Line:

Buffalo +3

The Breakdown:

Buffalo was able to manhandle their AFC East foes in Miami on Sunday, winning a convincing 41-14 game. New York was also able to secure their first win of the season at home, defeating Washington 32-21. Besides falling to the Super Bowl favorites in New England, Buffalo has looked great on both sides of the ball so far in 2015. Everyone knows how good a defense they’ve had, but Tyrod Taylor has quietly been making Rex Ryan look like a genius for putting his faith in him. He currently ranks 5th in passer rating behind Rodgers, Dalton, Brady, and Palmer. If he continues this pace, not only will Buffalo make the playoffs for the first time since 1999 but they will be serious contenders for the Super Bowl. They need to continue their momentum against New York, and barring mental errors they have the better team on both sides of the ball right now.

Final Stat: New York has given up the most passing yards in the NFL so far at 1,007 yds total.

Game 2: St. Louis vs. Arizona

The Initial Line:

St. Louis +7.5 away vs. Arizona

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to St. Louis’s line

The Final Line:

St. Louis +16

The Breakdown:

St. Louis couldn’t quite get their offense going in a 12-6 loss to Pittsburgh. Arizona on the other hand had another explosive game, putting up 47 against SF on route to a 3-0 start to 2015. Now a lot of people are high on Arizona right now and you can’t blame them given their 42 pts/game (highest in NFL). The defense has also played well and given the offense opportunities. However if you dissect this a little more, Arizona has beaten NO, CHI, and SF who all rank 26th or worse in PPG allowed this season. St. Louis currently ranks 12th, but defeated NFC West rival Seattle and held high-powered Pittsburgh to 12 pts (35.5 pts in other 2 games). Expect Arizona to have a lot more difficulty against more potent defense in St. Louis. They might still come out the victors, but this is going to be a close game as the NFC West will be out of hand if Arizona moves to 4-0 early.

Final Stat: St. Louis has 13 sacks thus far (leads NFL). The 3 teams that Arizona has beaten have 14 sacks combined through 3 games.
