Pick 3: Atlanta vs. Tennessee and Buffalo vs. Jacksonville

Pick 3: Atlanta vs. Tennessee and Buffalo vs. Jacksonville

The Teaser: Pair Atlanta and Buffalo

Game 1: Atlanta vs. Tennessee

The Initial Line:

Atlanta -4 away vs. Tennessee

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Atlanta’s line

The Final Line:

Atlanta +4.5

The Breakdown:

Atlanta incurred its first loss of the season, falling to division rival New Orleans on the road 31-21. Tennessee suffered a crushing loss to revamped Miami, falling at home 38-10. Even after suffering the loss, Atlanta is still averaging over 30 PPG. They have a well balanced offense, with Devonta Freeman leading the rushing charge and the Matt Ryan/Julio Jones 1-2 punch leading the passing game. Surprising the Atlanta D has also done a good job of pressuring opposing offenses, as they rank 7th in takeaways with 10 on the year. Tennessee is a team struggling to find their rhythm behind rookie QB Marcus Mariota, and his status is in question for Sunday’s game after a sprained MCL. Atlanta should get back on track in this one with a win, but take them with a few insurance points in case Tennessee’s able to find some late magic.

Final Stat: Tennessee is not getting critical stops when it counts. Their defense ranks 3rd in yards allowed/game, however they rank 20th in points allowed/game.

Game 2: Buffalo vs. Jacksonville

The Initial Line:

Buffalo -4.5 home vs. Jacksonville

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Buffalo’s line

The Final Line:

Buffalo +4

The Breakdown:

Buffalo suffered another home loss 34-21, this time to undefeated Cincinnati. Jacksonville fell to division rival Houston 31-20 after letting up 21 pts in the 4th quarter. Buffalo was off to a strong start until 2 consecutive losses. However all of their losses have come against high quality offenses (NE, NYG, CIN). Blake Bortles has shown improvements this year, but they are still a team in development and will have trouble against a strong Buffalo defensive squad. There are question marks surrounding both Tyrod Taylor and Sammy Watkins, but EJ Manuel still was able to step in and play a solid game vs a strong Cincinnati front. This is also listed as a home game for Jacksonville, but in reality a game played in Wembley Stadium is neutral turf for all of the London fans. Buffalo knows that they are chasing NE and now surging New York, so they see this is a crucial game to stay in AFC East or playoff contention.

Final Stat: Buffalo ranks 8th in turnover differential at +3, while Jacksonville is tied for 30th with a -6 differential.
