Teaser Pick 2: Kansas City vs. Tampa Bay and New York (NFC) vs. Chicago

The Teaser: Pair Kansas City and New York (NFC)

Game 1: Kansas City vs. Tampa Bay

The Initial Line:

Kansas City -7.5 home vs. Tampa Bay

The Take:

Add 7 points to Kansas City’s line

The Final Line:

Kansas City -0.5

The Breakdown:

Kansas City was able to steal a victory late on the road, as they came back from a 17-0 deficit in the 4th to win 20-17 vs Carolina. Tampa Bay got their first home win of the season in convincing fashion, as they clobbered Chicago 36-10. Kansas City is doing almost exactly what they did last season. After a slow 2-2 start, they’ve won 5 straight games and their defense is leading the way. They have the most takeaways in the NFL at 22, and Marcus Peters is tied for the NFL lead with 5 INTs on the season. Tampa Bay has done some good things on offense and defense and somehow is still in the NFC South race at 4-5, but they haven’t exactly been impressive. Jameis Winston only ranks 23rd in the NFL in passer rating, and that will need to improve moving forward to stay competitive. Kansas City doesn’t blow teams away on offense either, but they manage the game well and have the best turnover differential in the NFL at +14. Asking Tampa Bay to go on the road and get a victory in Arrowhead is tough, as KC is undefeated there on the year. Expect that trend to continue this weekend.

Game 2: New York (NFC) vs. Chicago

The Initial Line:

New York (NFC) -7 home vs. Chicago

The Take:

Add 7 points to New York (NFC)’s line

The Final Line:

New York even

The Breakdown:

New York got a tight home victory on Monday Night Football, as they took down Cincinnati 21-20. Chicago was blown out on the road by Tampa Bay, as they got manhandled 36-10. Chicago’s football team hasn’t had many positives on the year as they sit at 2-7, and have had injuries to both of their QBs in Jay cutler and Brian Hoyer. Hoyer actually performed fairly well, but after he got hurt Cutler came back and proceeded to throw 2 INTs with Chicago committing 4 turnovers overall in the game. Chicago got more bad news as their best wide receiver Alshon Jeffery just got suspended for 4 games for PEDs. New York has quietly had a good year, sitting at 6-3 and slightly overshadowed by the 8-1 Dallas squad in the NFC East race. Their statistics have put them in the middle of the pack in terms of offensive and defensive yards, but they are 4-1 at home and have won 4 straight games. This is more a story of taking a team with momentum and talent at home against a team that is struggling bad and just lost one of their best weapons. Take the G-men to get the home win here.
