Teaser Pick 1: Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland and Miami vs. New England

The Teaser: Pair Pittsburgh and Miami

Game 1: Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland

The Initial Line:

Pittsburgh -8 home vs. Cleveland

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Pittsburgh’s line

The Final Line:

Pittsburgh -0.5

The Breakdown:

Pittsburgh got a big win to knock out division rival Baltimore, as they held on at home 31-27. Cleveland finally got their first victory of the year, as they got the home win over San Diego 20-17. Pittsburgh has won 6 straight games and seems primed for another postseason run. The obvious strength of Pittsburgh’s game lies in its offense, but it’s the defense that’s exceeded expectations ranking 9th in PPG allowed. Cleveland hasn’t had much go right this year, and rank 31st in both defense and offense. They are clearly overmatched in this one, and even if Pittsburgh rests starters early I don’t see any scenario where they lose this game at home to a 1-14 team. Grab Pittsburgh with some points in case it’s close with backups, but take them to win here.

Game 2: Miami vs. New England

The Initial Line:

Miami +10 home vs. New England

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Miami’s line

The Final Line:

Miami +17.5

The Breakdown:

Miami won a tough battle on the road, as they beat their divisional foe Buffalo 34-31 in OT. New England also beat New York at home, as they were dominant all game in a 41-3 rout. This is another good divisional rivalry that will be showcased in week 17, as both Miami and New England are playoff bound. New England always seems to struggle when they go to South Florida, as they’ve lost their last 3 games there. Miami has won 9 of their last 10 games, and are now 2-0 with QB Matt Moore at the helm. Both teams are in the top 10 in turnover differential as well, which shows they don’t make many mistakes. With the possibility that New England may sit some starters for fear of injury and given the history of this rivalry playing in FL, giving the home team with 10 points almost seems like too many. Taking them at +17.5 almost seems unfair.
