Take New England -6.5 home vs. Miami
New England went on the road to shock Arizona, getting the unexpected road victory in Jimmy Garoppolo’s first NFL start winning 23-21. Miami almost shocked Seattle on its home turf in week 1, but a TD with less than a minute left by Russell Wilson sealed the victory for Seattle 12-10. Bill Belichick might have had one of his finest moments as an NFL coach, showing what he means when he says “do your job” to all his players and pulling out a huge underdog victory with many key players like Brady and Gronkowski sitting out. Now the Patriots will head home for 3 straight games, where they are 22-2 over the last 3 years. They have been especially good against AFC East opponents, going 20-1 against them since 2009. Miami may have given Seattle a run for their money, but they weren’t exactly stellar on offense. They only accumulated 214 total yards and 11 first downs, and Tannehill had a QBR of 36.1 mainly because of one Arian Foster catch that went for 50 yards. Jimmy G seemed completely composed in his first start however, going 24-33 for 264yds, 1 TD, and a 73.0 QBR. Garoppolo may be in his 2nd start, but he’ll be in front of the home crowd, supported by a stellar cast which will likely include Gronk in week 2, and he has the best coach in the NFL. Expect New England to win this one with ease.
