Teaser Pick 2: Dallas vs. Philadelphia and Jacksonville vs. Tennessee

The Teaser: Pair Dallas and Jacksonville

Game 1: Dallas vs. Philadelphia

The Initial Line:

Dallas -4.5 home vs. Philadelphia

The Take:

Add 8 points to Dallas’s line

The Final Line:

Dallas +3.5

The Breakdown:

Dallas got a bye week in week 7 after rolling to a 5-1 start to begin the season behind rookie QB Dak Prescott and rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott. Philadelphia flexed its muscles once again at home, as they took down another powerhouse in Minnesota 21-10. Even though Philly secured the victory, they were anything but perfect as they had 4 turnovers on the day. Luckily for them the defense also caused 4 turnovers which kept them in the game. Dallas has been firing on all cylinders this year, as Elliott leads the NFL in rushing yards and Dak Prescott ranks 5th in passer rating. The defense also deserves a lot of credit, as they rank 7th in points allowed. Philly has shown that they are dominant at home (3 games, outscored opponents 84-23) but it has been a different story on the road (3 games, outscored opponents 79-65). Dallas is well rested off of the bye and will be ready in front of the home crowd against their division rival. I could easily see them winning the game, but take them +3.5 in case a late FG steals one for Philly.

Game 2: Jacksonville vs. Tennessee

The Initial Line:

Jacksonville +3.5 away vs. Tennessee

The Take:

Add 8 points to Jacksonville’s line

The Final Line:

Jacksonville +11.5

The Breakdown:

Jacksonville had another tough day, as they fell to Oakland at home 33-16. Tennessee also lost this week against divisional foe Indianapolis, as the home crowd left disappointed in the 34-26 defeat. Both Jacksonville and Tennessee had higher hopes for the season, but currently sit below .500 in the AFC South. The good news for them is that their division may be the weakest in the NFL which opens up opportunities for a divisional crown. Jacksonville has yet to reach their full potential on offense despite having Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns as weapons for Bortles. What’s really killed them is the mistakes, with 12 turnovers on the season thus far. Tennessee has 10 themselves which shows that neither team has been perfect. Tennessee hasn’t shown that they can be dominant, as their only win by more than 2 pts came against Miami. Both of these teams are average at best, but will struggle to pull away from one another. That’s why grabbing Jacksonville at +11.5 seems like the safe play here.
