Take New York (AFC) +3.5 away vs. Miami
New York was able to come back to pull out the victory on the road, as they won in Cleveland 31-28. Miami got a bye week after they rattled off 2 straight victories to move to 3-4 on the season. Miami’s offense has been able to get it going behind the play of running back Jay Ajayi, who has had consecutive 200 yd rushing games. This may be a tougher task against a New York defense that’s first in the NFL in rush yds allowed (74.0 yards/game). New York has struggled mostly against the pass, but Ryan Tannehill has also struggled to move the ball through the air as he only ranks 21st in passer rating in the NFL. Ryan Fitzpatrick has had his own issues with turnovers this season, but he had his best performance against another AFC East foe on the road in Buffalo. Matt Forte’s been able to support the offense recently, as he has 3 rushing TDs in the last 2 games. Besides playing NE twice down the stretch, New York has a fairly easy schedule and still has an outside chance at a playoff spot. They need to beat teams like Miami, and have the firepower to do so. This pick is also about taking an underdog of an inflated line, as Miami shouldn’t be favored by -3.5 but only is given their recent hot streak. Expect that streak to end as they will start slow out of the bye week, grab New York at +3.5.
