Take Dallas -2 home vs. Green Bay
Dallas lost a back and forth game on Sunday at home to the Los Angeles Rams, 35-30. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott scored a combined five total touchdowns (Prescott had 3 pass TDs, Elliott had 1 rush TD and 1 receiving TD). Green Bay won convincingly, beating their division rivals from Chicago 35-14 on Thursday Night Football. Aaron Rodgers had a good night (18-26, 179 yds, 4 TDs), but he benefited from a strong defense that consistently provided amazing field position to set up the scores.
Dallas is considered to be struggling with their 2-2 record to start the year, but the offense has picked it up in the last 2 games (29 PPG) vs their first 2 games (18 PPG). They’ve also faced some of the best defenses in the NFL to this point, with games against the New York Giants, Denver, Arizona, and the Los Angeles Rams. Green Bay has gotten off to a good start with a 3-1 record, but that could be a bit misleading with home wins against turnover-prone Chicago, a struggling Cincinnati squad, and a Seattle squad that’s notoriously worse on the road. Their one road loss came in an away game at Atlanta in week 2, and Dallas has a comparable potent offense to that team. Rodgers will always keep a game competitive, but the injuries are continuing to stack up for Green Bay. It’s up in the air who will be at RB on Sunday, as Montgomery is questionable trying to recover from broken ribs and Jamaal Williams has a knee issue. WR Davante Adams is still in the concussion protocol and OT Bakhtiari and Bulaga have various leg issues. They also have defensive players like CB House (quad) and DT Daniels (hip) who are still recovering. Dallas should improve on the injury front with the possible returns of LB Hitchens (leg), DT Irving (suspension), LB Lee (hamstring), and CB Awuzie (hamstring). I think this is the game where Dallas returns to form and secures the victory over a Green Bay team dealing with a number of ailments. Dallas will be more determined, looking for revenge for last year’s playoff loss to this same GB squad. Take them against the spread to win by a field goal or more in this one.
