Teaser Pick 2 – Week 8 – Cincinnati vs. Indianapolis and New Orleans vs. Chicago

Teaser Pick 2 – Week 8 – Cincinnati vs. Indianapolis and New Orleans vs. Chicago

The Teaser: Pair Cincinnati and New Orleans

Game 1: Cincinnati vs. Indianapolis

The Initial Line:

Cincinnati -10 home vs. Indianapolis

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Cincinnati’s line

The Final Line:

Cincinnati -2.5

The Breakdown:

Cincinnati couldn’t keep up with their division rival this weekend, dropping the game on the road to Pittsburgh 29-14. Two turnovers were the main difference in the game for Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh’s revived offense was too much to keep up with. Indianapolis couldn’t get anything going on offense, getting shutout at home by Jacksonville 27-0. Indianapolis allowed over 300 yds passing to Blake Bortles and the OL let up 10 sacks.

Despite Cincinnati’s rough 2 games to open the year and their recent loss vs a surging Pittsburgh squad, their defense has been strong to this point. They currently rank 2nd in the NFL in yards allowed at 289.0/game. Indianapolis is basically the opposite, as they are allowing 425.4/game which ranks 31st in the NFL. Dalton and AJ Green are starting to find their groove as well – Green ranks 2nd in the NFL with 545 receiving yards thus far. Indianapolis has issues on both sides of the ball, and their OL may have trouble once again as Cincinnati ranks 9th in sacks currently. Indianapolis is slowly moving towards irrelevancy while Cincinnati will still have an outside shot at a playoff birth. Expect Cincy to come out for this one, but 10-point favorites seems a little high. They shouldn’t have a problem winning by more than a FG though, so grab them in a teaser.

Game 2: New Orleans vs. Chicago

The Initial Line:

New Orleans -9 home vs. Chicago

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to New Orleans’ line

The Final Line:

New Orleans -1.5

The Breakdown:

New Orleans kept their winning streak going against a weakened Green Bay squad, beating them 26-17 on the road. Surprisingly New Orleans’ defense is beginning to come together, as they held GB to only 260 yds and forced a turnover. Chicago got their first home win under new rookie QB Trubisky, defeating Carolina 17-3. Rookie S Eddie Jackson stole the show for Chicago, as he scored 2 defensive TDs on a fumble and INT return.

After an 0-2 start, New Orleans has won 4 straight and looks like a serious contender in the NFC South with Atlanta, Carolina, and Tampa Bay all having at least 2 straight losses. Drew Brees is showing why old is the new young at QB, as he currently ranks 7th in the NFL in passer rating. Another big surprise has been New Orleans protecting the ball and forcing mistakes, as they rank 5th in turnover differential at +5. Chicago has struggled to protect the ball however, as they sit at 28th in the league. Although Trubisky got a win in his first road game it OT vs Baltimore, the other 2 road losses were by an average of 21.5 points. I expect a similar result against the veteran future HOF QB guiding a team on a win streak at home, but just in case it’s a bit closer grab a few insurance points.
