Divisional Weekend: New England vs. Kansas City and Arizona vs. Green Bay

Divisional Weekend: New England vs. Kansas City and Arizona vs. Green Bay

The Teaser: Pair New England and Arizona

Game 1: New England vs. Kansas City

The Initial Line:

New England -5 home vs. Kansas City

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to New England’s line

The Final Line:

New England +3.5

The Breakdown:

New England got to enjoy a much-needed bye week as they were the #2 seed in the AFC. Kansas City started off the playoffs with a bang, going into Houston and blanking their opponents 30-0. This should be a well-fought game. Kansas City has now won 11 straight games dating back into the regular season. They were able to get 4 INTs in their road playoff game vs Brian Hoyer and Houston’s offense. However New England is one of the toughest postseason opponents to face, especially when they play at home. Tom Brady will be playing in his 30th playoff game (NFL record), and he has the most career TD passes and passing yards in postseason history. Kansas City is a team that can force you into mistakes on defense, however Brady and Co are one of the best teams at limiting mistakes on offense. Hoyer may have thrown 4 INTs but you will not see the same performance from the most seasoned postseason QB in NFL history. Getting back Julian Edelman should be a huge boost for a recently struggling NE offense, and they will get their momentum going in front of the home crowd. Ultimately I think New England wins a close game at home, take them here.

Final Stat:Tom Brady’s home playoff record is 14-3. His record in divisional round games is 9-2.

Game 2: Arizona vs. Green Bay

The Initial Line:

Arizona -7 home vs. Green Bay

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Arizona’s line

The Final Line:

Arizona +1.5

The Breakdown:

Arizona got to enjoy a bye week after notching the #2 seed in the NFC conference. Green Bay was able to win their road wild-card playoff game in convincing fashion, defeating Washington 35-18. Arizona has arguably been the best team in the NFL this season. They rank in the top 5 in offense and defense. Carson Palmer had the best season of any QB in the NFL, and might win an MVP award because of it. Green Bay had been a bit inconsistent but kept a good record to get into the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers is always a dangerous opponent when it comes to the playoffs, but the question is whether the team is good enough around him. Arizona seems be to complete on both sides of the ball, and Palmer has many weapons on offense including Fitzgerald, Floyd, and Brown. This is also a rematch of a game between these two teams in Arizona that occurred 3 weeks ago, and Arizona ran away with that one 38-8. Green Bay was able to get 6 sacks last week, But Arizona had 9 against them in their first matchup. Rodgers will keep his team in the game because he can elevate on the big stage, but Arizona’s complete team will win in the end. Take the home team here.

Final Stat:Arizona ranked in the top 5 on offense, defense, and turnover differential. Green Bay only cracked the top 10 in turnover differential (10th in NFL).
