Pick 3: Cincinnati vs. Pittsburgh and Baltimore vs. Miami

Pick 3: Cincinnati vs. Pittsburgh and Baltimore vs. Miami

The Teaser: Pair Cincinnati and Baltimore

Game 1: Cincinnati vs. Pittsburgh

The Initial Line:

Cincinnati -3 home vs. Pittsburgh

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Cincinnati’s line

The Final Line:

Cincinnati +4.5

The Breakdown:

Cincinnati pulled out a tight win on the road in week 13, defeating Tampa Bay 14-13. Andy Dalton started the game terribly with 3 INTs in the first half, but they were able to minimize the damage and holds TB’s offense to only 288 total yards. AJ Green had 57 yds and the clinching TD catch for his 3rd straight productive week, and he is a big reason why the team has won 3 straight games. Pittsburgh was beaten at home this past weekend, falling to New Orleans 35-32. Ben Roethlisberger had a huge game, throwing for 435 yds on 58 pass attempts with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. However Drew Brees won the battle by gashing the Pittsburgh defense for 5 TD passes. Pittsburgh also lost the turnover battle 2-0 which was the difference in the game.

This is a key divisional matchup, as Cincinnati was the only team in the AFC North to win in week 13, giving them the top spot in the division. All other teams sit behind them at 7-5. Cincinnati has a 3 game winning streak, and all of those wins came in road games. Now they get to travel home and look for a victory, after they hadn’t lost a home game in 2 years until Cleveland ended that streak in week 10. Expect Cincinnati to continue its hot streak and take down Pittsburgh at home, but take them at +4.5 in case they let one slip away at the end.

Game 2: Baltimore vs. Miami

The Initial Line:

Baltimore +3 away vs. Miami

The Take:

Add 7.5 points to Baltimore’s line

The Final Line:

Baltimore +10.5

The Breakdown:

Baltimore lost a nail biter at home this past weekend, losing to San Diego 34-33. They had the lead going into the 4th but gave up 21 pts to San Diego, including a TD with 0:38 seconds left. Joe Flacco had a solid game through the air, throwing for 225 yds and 2 TDs. Justin Forsett also contributed for the offense, gaining 106 rushing yds on the day. Miami pulled out a late victory of their own, defeating division rival New York 16-13 on the road. They outscored New York 10-0 in the 4th quarter and kicked a FG with under 2 minutes left to seal the win. Ryan Tannehill had a decent game, going 25-35 for 235 yds and 1 INT.

Currently Miami holds the 6 seed in the AFC playoff picture and Baltimore is on the outskirts, even though they both have matching 7-5 records. They are fairly evenly matched teams, as both have a +3 turnover differential. Baltimore has a 31st ranked pass defense, so Miami will try to capitalize despite ranking 21st themselves. However I think that Baltimore’s rushing offense that ranks 5th in the NFL should be able to take advantage of Miami’s 21st ranked rush defense. Expect a tight back-and-forth game here, as this could mean a playoff spot for each team if they don’t earn the victory. No matter the winner, feel good grabbing Baltimore at +10.5.
