Pick 3: Philadelphia vs. Washington and Indianapolis vs. Dallas

Pick 3: Philadelphia vs. Washington and Indianapolis vs. Dallas

The Teaser: Pair Philadelphia and Indianapolis

Game 1: Philadelphia vs. Washington

The Initial Line:

Philadelphia -9 away vs. Washington

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Philadelphia’s line

The Final Line:

Philadelphia -0.5

The Breakdown:

Philadelphia suffered a big home loss on Monday Night Football, falling to division rival Dallas 38-27. The game went back-and-forth with Dallas jumping to a 21-0 lead, Philly coming back to take the lead 24-21, and Dallas rallying to win 38-27. Philly just made too many mistakes, as they had 4 turnovers in all and only 294 total yds for their high-powered offense. Washington lost their 6th straight game, falling on the road to New York 24-13. Colt McCoy left after the opening drive with a neck injury, and backup RGIII couldn’t do enough with 236 yds, a TD and a fumble. The defense held New York under 300 yds of total offense, but couldn’t stop Odell Beckham Jr. who had 3 receiving TDs.

Philadelphia is currently outside of a playoff spot after 2 straight losses, and will need a strong finish in order to stay in contention. Washington is on a 6 game losing streak and shows no signs of stepping up their game. Philly did lose 2 straight to teams with a combined 20-8 record (Seattle, Dallas), but they need to win their last 2 games against these teams with losing records (Washington, New York). Don’t forget this is a team with the 6th most takeaways and the 5th most yards on offense. Expect a big bounce-back week from Philly with their season on the line, so take them to win the game here.

Game 2: Indianapolis vs. Dallas

The Initial Line:

Indianapolis +3 away vs. Dallas

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Indianapolis’ line

The Final Line:

Indianapolis +11.5

The Breakdown:

Indianapolis clinched the AFC North on Sunday at home, with a 17-10 divisional win against Houston. Andrew Luck had his struggles against the tough Houston D, throwing 18-34 for 187 yds, 2 TDs and 1 INT. They caught a break on defense as Ryan Fitzpatrick went down with a leg injury and 3rd string QB Tom Savage went in early. Dallas got a statement win in Philadelphia on Sunday Night Football, with a final of 38-27. Tony Romo showed a lot of poise after they blew a 21-0 lead, finishing with 265 yds and 3 TDs. DeMarco Murray also contributed 81 yds and 2 TD on the ground. Dez Bryant rounded out the usual trio of stars for the Dallas offense, as he had 114 receiving yds and 3 TDs.

This aims to be a good showdown on Sunday with 2 teams who have 10-4 records. Indy has clinched their division, while Dallas currently sits atop the NFC East with a 1 game lead over Philly. Both of these teams have powerful offenses, as Indy ranks 3rd while Dallas ranks 9th. Both have used the offenses to mask their defenses, however; Indy ranks 15th while Dallas ranks 22nd. Even though these teams are pretty evenly matched and play similar style games, I give the edge to Indy with Andrew Luck leading the NFL with 4492 pass yds. Vegas gave Dallas the home-field advantage as a 3 pt favorite. This aims to be a shoot-out for 2 teams battling for postseason position, but neither will tail off so getting Indy at +11.5 is a safe bet.
