Pick 6: Detroit vs. Chicago and Philadelphia vs. Washington

The Teaser: Pair Detroit and Philadelphia

Game 1: Detroit vs. Chicago

The Initial Line:

Detroit -10 away vs. Chicago

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Detroit’s line

The Final Line:

Detroit -1.5

The Breakdown:

Detroit was able to comeback for the victory in week 15, winning at home 16-14. The offense was held in check, as they only gained 233 total yds. The defense was able to force Teddy Bridgewater into 2 INTs however, which made the difference in this one. Matt Stafford only gained 153 yds through the year with 1 TD, and almost half of those yds went to Calvin Johnson. Chicago turned in its 3rd straight loss this past weekend, falling at home to New Orleans 31-15. Jay Cutler struggled once again, as he threw for 194 yds, 2 TDs, and 3 INTs. The defense didn’t help out the cause either, as they gave up 443 total yards. They now sit at 2-5 at home for the year.

This seems to always be a good game between these two division rivals. Detroit sits at 10-4 with 3 straight wins, despite struggling to make them look easy. Chicago has lost 3 in a row and benched Jay Cutler this week for his poor performance during the season. Jimmy Clausen will look to right the ship, but that seems to be a tough task vs. the 2nd best defense in the NFL. Chicago has not done much to help their cause on defense either, as they sit at 28th in yds allowed. Detroit is still fighting for a playoff spot in a tough NFC playoff race, while Chicago is playing for… pride? Detroit has much more to play for and will be up to the task. Take them to win by 2 or more here, as they will do just that.

Game 2: Philadelphia vs. Washington

The Initial Line:

Philadelphia -9 away vs. Washington

The Take:

Add 8.5 points to Philadelphia’s line

The Final Line:

Philadelphia -0.5

The Breakdown:

Philadelphia suffered a tough home defeat to Dallas on Sunday Night Football, falling to their division rival 38-27. It was a back and forth game, after Dallas blew a 21-0 start only to come back strong late. Mark Sanchez had his struggles, as he threw for 252 yds and 2 INTs. Jeremy Maclin also had a strong performance, as he caught 4 passes for 98 yds. Washington lost its 6th straight game at the hand of division rival New York, losing 24-13 on the road. RGIII went in after an early injury to Colt McCoy and went 18-27 for 236 yds and a TD. The defense was actually pretty solid as they held New York to 287 total yds and a fumble recovery, but they couldn’t handle Odell Beckham Jr, who had 3 TD receptions.

Philadelphia is currently sitting at #7 in the NFC, which has them out of the playoffs if they started today. Their offense hasn’t been the issue, as they’ve put up the 5th most yds and the 4th most points. They do sit at 27th in yds allowed however and have a -8 turnover differential. They will need a better performance against a 3-11 Washington team, but they should be able to gain some yds in the air as Wash. ranks 18th in opp. pass yds allowed. Bottom line is that Philly needs this win in order to stay in the playoffs. They are the better team, and if they execute they should win easily. Take Philly to win here.
